It might seem hard to get traffic from Instagram due to so many limitations. The truth is, you can get lots of traffic from a properly run Instagram account.

You need to understand who your audience is, where they like to hang out, what their problems are, and how you’re going to use Instagram to reach them. Here are some standard best practices to make that easier.

  • Use SoftwareLinktr.ee (https://linktr.ee/) is a good example of cloud-based software that is designed to help you make the most out of your Instagram profiles. It makes it possible for you to avoid having to keep changing your bio link for every promotion. It optimizes your traffic and helps you organize the content you want your followers to go to.

  • Use Your Bio-Link Efficiently – The software mentioned above will help with that but even if you don’t want to use that software yet, you want the link to send your Instagram audience to a special landing page just for them that includes a freebie and a reason to sign up for your email list.

  • Use Compelling Images – Instagram seems as if it’s only for creative and professional photographers sometimes due to the amazing images. Thankfully, your phone probably can take great images. Think about the images that you use, try to use your own, and if you do choose stock photos, try to change them in some way to make them special.

  • Don’t Forget Video – Instagram is a great place for video today. They’ve increased how long the videos can be and will likely continue to improve this aspect of the platform. Be sure to add video to your updates as often as you can. You can make video easily using Office 365’s PowerPoint and turning it into a short video when you render it. It’s super simple to do.

  • Understand Hashtags – Using hashtags is an important aspect of using Instagram. People use a lot of hashtags to describe what the topic is about to help people find it when they search. A hashtag really isn’t much more than a creative keyword.

  • Include Exclusive Content – Even though you want most of your content to live on your website and blog, do include some exclusive content just for Instagram that you don’t put elsewhere other than sharing it from Instagram to make your followers feel special.

  • Engage with Your Audience – Nothing is done on social media without being active and engaging with your audience. Don’t just participate on your own feed, instead, go to other people’s feed and comment, share, and be part of your entire community as a real person.
